Pottery

|
The Ancient Egyptians of this period had pots such as vases, bottles and dishes which were
widely produced and in many different shapes and sizes. There were small jars which were
specifically for perfume and large flasks for water. Pots and jars were for many different
uses. They were made from clay which was readily available in Egypt. Potters would knead
the clay with their feet, and then shape it with their hands. Some potters used the
Potters wheel.

The pots which we made were all produced from clay and
shaped by hand. This was time consuming and it was difficult to make the pots accurately,
but not impossible. We left our pots to dry. We did not fire them because of the
likelihood they would not survive the firing process!!
