2-14.jpg (13677 bytes)The frieze running along the top of Wall 17 looks like it represents the bundles of papyrus reeds which grew along the banks of the Nile River. The frieze actually means to be adorned/ a decoration. Our efforts at reproducing the frieze first began with selecting the correct size for our frieze. Our size ended up being smaller than the other 3 walls but this worked out to be correct as in the actual tomb of Senneferi's the frieze sizes are also different. So we projected the overhead onto the wall and found that only one person (Holly) could copy it neatly onto the wall. The rest of us (Nancy and Bethany) started on the painting of the frieze. This we found equally hard as it was backbreaking work, as well as neck straining. After we had finished painting the primary colours we then started the outline of gold, yellow, colour in between. After that we then started fixing up the bits of paint outside the lines. Some problems we faced were firstly, finding the right size frieze and then co-ordinating those colours with our wall.
