My group, Helen, Rachel, and myself (Penny), are constructing the wall with the doorway in it. Our whole class decided to construct the tomb "as it was" when it was first constructed by the Ancient Egyptians for Senneferi. We are using the Internet site on Senneferi’s tomb to get an overall picture of what the tomb would have been looked like, but because a lot of reliefs have decayed over the years, we are also using a book Topographical Bibliography of Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphic Texts, Reliefs, and Paintings I: The Theban Necropolis, Part 1: Private Tombs, by Porter and Moss, to fill in the missing pieces.

To begin with, we papered the whole of our wall, so that we would be able to draw and paint on it. We then traced in the frieze using an overhead to project the image onto the wall. We then painted the frieze, which borders nearly all the top of the wall (except for where the door is supposed to be). We painted the area that was to be the door completely black. We have also drawn and painted the lines that the hieroglyphic text is to go into.     Penny

Construction of Ancient Egyptian Tombs
The Ancient Egyptians would tunnel into the hillside. They used hand tools, such as picks, to work their way into the rock. The that debris was cut away would then be removed by other workmen. They didn’t have the technology that is available for us to use today, they worked as a team, to complete this strenuous task.        Penny
A Brief Outline For the Design of Walls 12 and 13
This wall of Senneferi’s shrine is both wall 12 and 13, with wall 18 on the right and 12 on the left of the doorway (which is in the centre). The first scene on the left shows Senneferi and his wife. To the right of this in a separate register is a scene of a banquet. Below this shows female mourners, tumblers and a priest before a mummy on a couch in the shrine. Past the doorway to the right wall (wall 18) is the biographical text. In the next register possessions including baskets and a toilet box are shown along with a figure of Bes and a girl preparing a bed. Below this may have been a scene showing Egyptian activities. The last register on wall 18 contains text
